You are better off doing it yourself. It really is not that hard. Almost all parts stores have a loaner tool program. Get you a book and go at it. Just get someone to do your machine work and your good. That is how I started when I was 15. If you run into something you are not quite sure about just ask.

PS I would also suggest buying your rebuild kit, if they also build motors, through the business that does your machine work. It will be cheaper than a chain store.

time may be an issue for him. Summit racing sells rebuilt mag engines for around 1200 bux, however i've heard that KRC performance has had issues when dealing with the rebuilts from the mopar supplier. do some research on it.

You never know what you get with one of those remans. I have seen some come out with a number of different piston/ ring sizes in the same motor. I personally got a 350 with 305 heads. What kind of crap is that.

I think it'd be better to get a new short block from KRC Performance, then finish it off with a good set of HD heads.

thats odd..usually its the other way around... larger heads on a smaler block... were they TRYING to take your HP away from ya?

its a tuff decision when you wanna rebuild your own engine.. cost/tools/ know how all plays a big factor into taking that kind of project on

especailly tring to salvage your original block and heads.. all the time and money already invested into the idea that you hope your OE block and heads are reusable.. then the machine shop tells you that you got cracks and splits and needs boring etc etc etc... dont pay any attentiion to me.. im heart broken b/c my tranny couldnt last another 6K to make it to 100K... someone else is taking a wrench to her and it tears me apart inside

Not 100% sure but I think the chevy heads come the same way as our mag heads do... either 1.92's or 2.02 valves.

the magnum heads with the 2.02 valves would be for the high end hp... I'd like to see a dyno sheet on 1.92's vs 2.02's on the same motor with no other changes but the valve sizes...
