It could be that the programmer has set the octane level higher/premium. Thus with running regular fuel in an engine that is set for higher octane then pinging will occur.. just my two cents..

Basically..just check the octane settings on the Hypertech to see if it has changed to a higher setting..

i had it set to 87 and was running 87.. but tonight i switched to 93 to see what it would do and filled up with premium gas. i just ordered a low temp stat though so that should probally help.. anyone know a good website for msd ignition?? hopefully the cheapest site you know! or do you have any other ideas for a good upgrade for under 300??

to answer your question its actually recomended by hypertech to drop down to a cooler t-stat... 180 will do fine... i have a 180 in and i experience detonation with 87 in the tank and the 87 program... the ping went away when i switched to 93 in the tank and 93 program.... i usually dont run 93 normally ... if the 180 doesnt help then try dropping down to a colder spark plug..if you search for cold spark or something along the lines youll fine threads and posts dealing with the idea of a colder spark... i had detonation even with my plenum fixed... just slight detonation thought...nothing bad at all...nothing a colder spark plug wont fix

Hmm...I have a set of OEM Dodge ram aluminum wheels w/ chrome centercaps that i'll let go for 200. They are the same ones as pictured on my truck. As far as performance...Get some flowmasters on that truck or fastman tb...or CAI

Here you go...K&N FIPK CAI brand new- 249.95 shipping included. I had one one of these on my truck and it really helped me out on power and gas mileage.

Personally if it were me I wouldn't buy the cat or flowmasters from the body shop...they charge way to much. I would buy them off ebay and pay the body shop to put them on. I do believe that it would save you a good chunk.
Here is some flows on ebay...40 series dual flow $54 shipped

Here is a high flow Cat made by Magnaflow for 55.57 shipped...Magnaflow cat
