Front Bumpers
Have a 98 ram 1500 sport. I would like to replace the front and rear bumpers with chrome ones. (originals painted white to match truck, paint is falling off and lots of rust) It seems that all of the front chrome bumpers are listed as NOT FOR SPORT MODEL. Will the non sport model chrome bumper fit? Is it just a matter of the chrome can not be painted, or is there really a difference between the painted sport bumper and the chrome? I would also like to transfer my painted upper and lower valances and fog light surrounds onto the chrome bumper.
Thanks, Mike

RE: Front Bumpers
i went to the junkyard and got a chrome front for $225 it's an aftermarket one that you gotta make to fit but it turned out pretty good.
even included the grey part. for like 50 more you can get the top black thing. i think the bumper was made by TYC... i priced the front out as the local shop wanted 800 to do it.. crysler parts direct wanted about 500.

oh it's not that bad.. no welding or anything tough.. just bending the plastic so that it looks good.
yeah we do sound a lot like they might be giants.. they're a big influence on our songwriter/singer/guitarist

wouldn't it be cheaper to just get some 1/8, 3/16 or 1/4' plate stock and cut it and weld it to exactly the way you want it, then have it chromed, or even start out with SS and TIG it up?
