Turns Over- No Start Gauges don't come Alive

RE: Resolved**Turns Over- No Start Gauges don't come Alive
I have had this no bus problem on my 2001 V6 several times and always came and went but always ran fine, just the gauges where all dead and odometer said no bu5. I would always restart and it would go away or disconnect connectors to the ECU and clean all the grounds under the hood and it would go away. Well this time it would not go away and so I did the usual stuff and still had the problem. Finally found this time it was the electrical connector called Engine Inline in the fuse box under the hood, it has a philips head bolt in the center of it. Just disconnected and reconnected and the gauges all work now.

RE: Resolved**Turns Over- No Start Gauges don't come Alive
Thanks shott8283. I did look at that area. THANKS ryans590. I tried your suggestion and disconnected the neg. battery cable, turned the key to start, held it there for 30 seconds, reconnected the battery and that reset the computer. I tried that and it seemed to have worked. All of my guages came back and my warning lights went out. Even the yellow check engine light that I have had on for 2 years went out that my local dealership could not get to turn off (they said my transmission was the cause of the engine light). Upon the advice of someone that I work with, I had disconnected the battery the day before and that did not work by itself. I have driven 75 miles or so and it seems to be working fine. I hope it lasts. I hope that this info can help someone else. Probably saved me a bunch of money. This site is great. A wealth of information. Thanks for all of the posts that I read in relation to my situation.

Thank you so much!
I just bought my 99 Ram 1500 yesterday, Saturday October 14th, and 6 hours after buying my truck "As-Is", it died in the middle of an intersection. It just shut off. I pushed it to the side of the road and tried several times without sucess to get it started. I did the roadside easy stuff - add gas, check fuses, listen for fuel pump (which I didn't hear) then had it towed to my house and started second guessing my recent purchase. This morning, I found this forum and started searching for the No bu5 message I saw. 10 minutes after reading this thread, my truck is running again. I can't tell you guys how much I appreciate the post with the four steps for resetting the PCM. -Pete
