Default RE: Headers

I have Edelbrock part #65642. I went with them over the Gibson and other brands because they have 1 5/8" primaries instead of 1 1/2". Since they are only shorty headers instead of long tubes, I think the extra diameter makes a difference.

They are a direct bolt up. Took me about 2 hours to install. I recommend you get a set of allen head header bolts for the ones that are hard to reach. Makes install a lot simpler then trying to squeeze in a socket or a wrench. I used Mr. Gasket Sockethead Header Bolts, size 5/16"-18 x 3/4" Gr.8, Part number 3411 from Summit Racing. I also recommend leaving the studs alone. I replaced with them with bolts on one side only, and I feel I was pretty lucky that I didn't twist it off. Removing the stud also makes installing the header and gasket more difficult. With the stud in place, you can hang you gasket and header until you get everything lined up nice.

I noticed a nice performance gain on the top end (like at full throttle passing cars or going up hills). Low end seemed unchanged.

The link in my signature has pictures of my headers installed.

Default RE: Headers

I've heard good things about Edelbrock and JBA.

Just what ever you do do not get the Summit brand, which ends up being PaceSetters.....Just trust me on that one. I pulled the second set off and run manifolds, not going to mess with it anymore. Have ranted on a couple of other threads on the junk and I'm done.

After looking at the pictures of your headers from the link, I can deffinately tell a difference. They look like they are well made..
