Default Lower a Ram???

Well I had got to thinking about it, and since my truck is a sporty model, I thought about lowering it. Does anyone know how a peI on can lower a truck with almost no money in it. I don't really have any to spend, and a couple buddies of mine said that you can take a leafspring out of the back, and if the front needs droped, heat the spring. Can that cause trouble down the road? I know that if you heat them, you can never get them back they was, and I have also heard that you can get these things from the local parts store to clamp the spring? Anyone know about them? I need some help before I start on this adventure. Any help is appreciated.

First off, I would not do either of the two suggestions. The handling would go down quick.

If you go to summit Racing and search in the below order, there are several front and rear springs for 125-150 bucks. And there are others that sell the same/similar stuff

Department: Chassis & Suspension
Make: DODGE
Model: RAM 1500 PICKUP
Part Type: Suspension Springs, Lowering Springs

I'm sure there are several guys in here with some good suggestions.

Well, do you know about leveling it out? Like what I could do to make it level. The front end sets lower than the back end and I was wanting to make it a little bit straighter from front to back.

if you just wanna level it you can use some shackles. they make 2" lowering ones, they're cheap too. if you can save up $350 and do a 2/3 drop that would be better and still be functional if you carry stuff in the bed.

I'm listening in, very interested in finding a cheap(er) drop (just a 2/4 or something).

Yeah dont do any of those, heating the springs will ruin them, I watched a guy heat his springs, told him that it was a VERY bad idea... 2 weeks later those springs SPLIT IN TWO. Needless to say the ride quality BLEW and he eventually bought the proper set... (and some new shocks, because i think he f-d up one of those too)

Ifyou use the same search criteria, there is another option for
Section: Suspension Components
Part Type: Leaf Spring Shackles and Hangers 50-150 bucks

Several to choose from.
Most of the spring and shackle kits don't specify 5.2 or 5.9, they just specify V8. These work, DJM-CS2391-2, BEL-4754
