Rims Help, Gen 2 rims from 01 to a 96
Hey, here my dilemma, well not really, but anyways. I have a 1996 Dodge 2500 4x4 with the dana 70 rear. When I got my truck, it had 01 style steelies on, Which as you all know dont fit the back, but they were on there. I would like to know if the 01 16 inch alloys off the diesel trucks will fit over the brake drum on my 96?
Also has anyone put the Gen 3 rims on there Gen 2, like the Wagon wheels or the 3/4-1 ton 8 bolt rims, and do they fit?
Any help is much appriciated
THanks

1996 rim

01 alloy rim

Would they fit?
or
New power wagon wheels, 17x8

Those are the ones I am looking for, but they are few and far between

I dunno much about duelly's but as long as they're the some bolt patter, which they are, I'd say your good to go. People have switched regular wheels from 03+ to 2nd Gens.
I'm not sure if the 3rd gen rims will fit. 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks had larger drums than the 1/2 tons. And the 3rd gens don't have drums at all.
The 16 Diesel rims should fit though. The diesels had the same brake setups as the V10s.

I know the steel rims of the 01 2500 dont fit, and it was problems with the drums, So in theroy the Alloy rims of off a 01 2500 diesel should fit?
And also in theroy the 3rd gen 3/4 and 1 ton rims will fit on my 96 2500 with the drums on the back?

Well, I think Im going to pick up the 16 inch alloys, and if they dont fit my truck, Ill donate them to my Dads 01 V-10.
$400 for 4 rims, with 33s, caps and lugs, is a pretty dam good deal.
No one has any of the 17s availble up here. Only 17s I could get my hands on is a set of H2 wheels, and no tires for over double for hte 16s.

Update:
Just got back after 6 hours driving to pick the wheels up.
And they dont fit. There is about a 1/4" lip on the drums that makes them not fit. Its like Dodge strikes again and foils my plan.
Nothing a little bit of grinding cant solve.

Ill get some pics when its all done.
I know realized why they dont fit. THey come on a 2000 and a half to 2002 diesels, with rotor/caliper brakes in the rear, not the drums like on the V-10

Dam I like the looks of the diesel wheels on my truck. Well worth the time

Notice how the drum takes up the entire inside of the rim
