i said they had some miles on them..meaning ive never replaced them since ive owned the truck and thats close to 40 thousand miles...im not sure if they were or werent replaced before i bought it... didnt get any sighns of wearing untill the bad vibration...witch i think with the tech removing the drive shaft to put the new tranny in .. might of had something to do with it...either way its no biggy.. got them done so they should be good for a while... only thing is that i didnt put ones in with grease fittings... i was in a jam... but when i do the front end axle joints ill see about replacing them... i used the brand Brute Force... they seem really well built and more heavy duty then the oem ones i took out

damn man, you got lucky! Seriously man, I've seen people who drop their driveshafts without a warning because of the u-joints! at least your's rattled and it didnt drop and do a ****load of damage to the d-shaft Or worse, catch in the road and flip your axle over!

Which reminds me of the one time i watched someone go down a bridge, the driveshaft dragging on the ground, dude was waiting to stop when he got to the bottom, however he didnt know that the bridge had a little gap before it met back with the road, driveshaft caught in that gap, flipped over the rear axle and RIPPED it off =/ I felt bad for the dude, you can only imagine what it did to his wallet =/

Congrats on finding the problem man! at least it wasnt the tranny shop!

hmmm.... kinda makes ya wanna smack a trans shop tech in the face with the driveshaft. they should notice that kind of stuff.........

but I have no room to talk, I have been driving for 800 miles with no second gear.... and am one of those guys who does not fix anything till it really blows up. [:@]

lol... aint gonna touch it untill the tranny falls out and you can see it in the rear view? i used to be the same way but for some reason ,.. i always think that one problem if left too long will lead to a larger more expensive problem. yea i was thinkin that too..wonder what the tech would say if i jammed my drive shaft with the bad ujoints up his keester

No second gear. Ouch!!! I thought my mileage stunk... Hope you have a backup vehicle on standby. Towing insurance? Things never seem to quit in the driveway or when you have spare time.[]

There is no way the shop should've missed bad joints!
For that price, they should've replaced them anyway, or at least recommended that they be done.
Glad to hear problem solved!
