Default going back to the tranny shop:: update

mother @#$% son of a @@#%$ im gonna shoot a $@@% #$%@

yea so driving today..hopped int he truck..dead cold (this morning) and did my ritual... let it warm up till the temp needle starts to move and then i take off... well reverse out of the driveway into the street... put it in drive..and i step on the gas lightley (been conservative since im trying to get a good MPG check after my recent mods) and the truck is shaken ... it feels like my truck was turned into a friggen massager overnight... im like WTF... does it ALLLLL DAY... doesnt let up.. no quirky shifts... just started..all of a sudden... really really feel it through the wheel and pedals and floorboards... and doesnt sound too healthy... as some of you may knowi just got rapped 2500 bills for a new tranny after my TC failed ... anyway... its really strange and made me all sorts of pissed off... it almost feels like someone put a 20 pound wieght on one side of the drive shaft... or as if someone welded a chunk of metal on one side of the fluid damper... for sh%ts and giggles i drive down the road and shift carefully into N and rev the motor...purrs like a kitten...doesnt shake or make any weird noises... i put it into drive and step on the gas...shakes all over the place....not bucking or jumping forward...just a vibration that you cant miss...it just wouldnt quit... i checked all the fluids..everythign is fine.... it only does it when im in drive and going down the road... 1st 2nd and 3rd are the worse in lower RPM's settles down somewhat when it shifts into OD... if im at a dead stop and i smash the gas in 1st cant really notice it... but then again im screamin down the road at mach 7 ... but the vibration is considerablly gone...its only when i start out in 1st and crooz gently through town or on a any road....if im cruzing down the raod and i let off the gas it seems to go away but when i step back on it ... it comes back again..

anyone got any ideas? im thinking that tranny tech didnt index the drive shaft when they removed it and just put it back on.. like when you change out the u joints your saposed to mark the drive shaft so it goes back on the same way it came off... but again you should have to remove the entire drive shaft..should only have to drop it from the tranny.. but im not sure hwo exactly they did it... anyone with any ideas so i know what to expect when i bring it in.... possible a rearend issue?

well since you put it in nutral and reved it and there was nouthing we can safley say its not your moter (couldent imagen having to do the tranny and moter in the same month) so its gota be in the drive line...just a dumb question but your u-joints are all good right, i mean the tranny shop shoulda noticed that but you never know... if there good id hate to say it but it duzent sound good for your tranny[:'(] at least they gave you a 1 year warrenty on it right

yea i got a 1 year 12000 mile warrenty on it now..but when i take it back in im defenatly gettiung a bigger warrenty... i mean its not even a week old yet..less then a 100 miles on the new tranny and its starting to act up... im kickin myself in the *** for jumping the gun and not giving APS a call ... i could have turned that 2000 dollar bill into a better tranny and could put it in myself... as long as i dont ahve to see the inside of the tranny then im ok.. remove replace is fine....

im almost postive my Ujoints are fine... they got some miles on them but ive never had a problem before... but maybe with the tech monkeying around with them maybe they are bad... im gonna climb underneat tomorow and give her a look see... maybe on of the bolts hold the drive shaft on is just loose... if thats the case i should feel the vibration during acceleration (foot to pedal) and decel (fooot off pedal)

well i was diggin around in the closset and found 3 u joints i bought a while back and i figured... hell ill chage them out tomorow just incase that could be it... and now that i think of it.. i bet the tech did remove the entire drive shaft ... unbolted it from the rearend and just slid the yoke out of the tranny end... atleast thats way i woulda done it if i did the work..

doin it just to rule out the vib... so if it still happnes and i take it in and they try to say its the ujoints .. ill take a big dump on their faces and tell them.... uuuuhhhhh nope! i get bitter in times like this

jeeze sounds like you and me have the same bad luck. get em back and they dont run right. Sounds like a problem with balance on the drive shaft for sure. He better not of droped it and bent it a little or somthing like that take a close look. maybe even a weight to counteract a wobble from before fell off if you had one on there. happened to another truck of mine. get the magnifying glass out and some wobbley pop! Possibly the wrong converter? Not sure if the 360 and 318 are weighted differently.
The may have not had the converter seated all the way in the front pump which will bind the converter on top of the pump gears. Very possible to still work, but only until the pump gears break.
I'd do a quick visual check around the bell housing for any wires that may have gotten pinched between the bell housing and the engine.
Another stupid mistake may be they installed the coverter-to-flexplate bolts, but forgot to tighten them down.
Worse case senerio, the are crappy rebuilders and need to find a different profession![:@]
Just throwing some quick checks at you.
BTW...I never mark how a driveshaft as to which end goes where on the pinion yoke and never had a problem. But do make sure the U-joint caps are seated all the way into the pinion yoke.
Check throttle pressure adjustment.
At WOT,there should be NO movement left on the cable going to the trans.
If they didn't check it for adjustment, it don't take long for no throttle pressure to fry a trans.
Also, make sure they tightened the bell housing bolts.

wooooo... that was close!!! u joints were ALL sorts of toasted... the aft one (diff end) was completly warn and the tranny/tcase end was getting close..replaced them both..took about 2 hours.. had to use a BFH and a socket to nock out the old ones and nock in the new ones...i was really carefull not to damage the needle bearings.....drives like a dream now... so yea i was a little ept to jump the gun and blame the tranny shop... i just get wicked paranoid when i spend that much money on something that i dont know a whole lot about... but its kinda crappy that the tech couldnt gimme a heads up to let me know that he noticed them bad or not... woulda been nice to let me know..but its all good now... took a good look at everything while i was underthere..noticed my axle joints are close to warn and the ball joints have some play in them .. so i plan on "rebuilding" the front end in the spring/summer time.. new trac bar ball joints axle joints tie rod ends etc etc... not sure how much its gonna run..id like to install some beefier gear but not sure who sells what...

thanks guys for the ideas and help!!!! im lucky i had a few sets of joints in the closet!!!!

Dang! You said they were new? (Or not to old at least) and they were already fried? Sounds like somebody didn't put any grease in them or something.
