IIRC the 97 has the OBD II PCM. if the truck you have now has the 318 in it I dont see why it wouldnt work. The blocks should be the same, just transfer your accessories. Just in case i would also pull the PCM out of the 01 just to be safe, may take some rewiring but all in all it should be a simple direct swap.

More information on the current truck you have would help us determine if the swap would work =D

Default RE: motor swap

Are you replacing a blown 318 with a salvage motor?

If so, the best option would be to keep the sensors and wiring harness from the blown motor...and transfer them to the salvage motor. That way you don't need to worry about wiring...or changing the PCM.

IIRC, the fuel rails are also different. You will need the rail from the 97 for your fuel lines to hook up correctly.
