I've never drilled a thermostat and never had any problems. Just take your time in burping the system. Once the engine starts warming up, move the heater control full hot and turn the blower on full blast.

If you insist on drilling, a small hole through the flat, thin metal. DO NOT drill through the pellet or the housing.

if your going to drill a hole do it on any of the flat part use a 1/16 drill bit, i do it seams to help burping the system even if it duzent its not gonna hurt anything

if you havnt removed the tstat before then it may be a bit tricky...the housing has a little tab letting you know what direction it goes...with that tab being there it makes it a PITA to take out b/c it gets hung up... still not hard just gotta take out the alt and unbolt the hoses (just the retainers) going to the ac pump and unbolt that too... and then you only prolly gotta loosen up a bunch of the braket bolts and kinda tug it out of the way .. and then there should ne anouf room...while you have the housing out its a good idea to grind off that tab so you can get to it later... w/o tearing down so badly..

you MAY be able to get it out with just taking off the alt... take it a step at a time...

i was looking at it and it looks liek the alt. and a/c unit are all bolted together.. but that must be one big bracket or something i dunno.. also if i unbolt that a/c lines (the metal tubes going to the top of the a/c) will it leak out??
