Thanks Shott.
Anyone know if our current 2500's 285/75R16s will mount up on the '05? Stock wheel size for the '05 is 17". Not sure if our 16's would slip over the brake rotors or not. It would definately solve the tire issue. Our BFG AT KOs only have about 3K on them. While I like the rims on the '05 truck, a swap would save on new rubber. The dealership would probably stick some gay cheap tires on it, if they did anything at all. I guess the cost of new tires taken off the vehicle price would be do-able.

From what I was told and what I've read, the 16" wheel will NOT fit over the rotors on the 3rd Gen Ram. It's a pretty common question in the 3rd Gen section of people wanting to slap 16" wheels on it....
I'd ask in the 3rd gen section to be sure...but I'm almost 99% positive it wont fit.

chopper is right... if they sell it with any type of warrenty, it should automatically cover tires..warrented to pass inspection... my old man told me its state by state and isnt sure where you live but something to look into... usually dealerships will try to do anything to make a sale..including a warrenty,,, its just hard to have them back there warrentys with out trying to bone ya

It is a sweet looking ride. Flames aren't cheap!! Thought about getting some, but having a hard time justifying the cost. Ask the dealer to inspect it for you. If he already has done so, then it's your call, but you could ask how. He might not want to talk after that. Or he might want to work something out...

Well, this morning I picked up a build sheet for it, to see what goodies it has. The parts counter guy said, "Oh, it has the HO engine and 6 spd tranny. Not sure if that combo was available on all CTDs, or only some.
Called the used car dealership it at, and asked how many miles it had. Only 8K, which was good to hear. Now to find out the story on the tires... and of course see if their $36,800 price tag is negotiable. Nada books the thing at $32,500 with 10k miles.

Well, with the tires being the way they are, and I'm sure some of our very, very knowledgable Diesel guys can help you with the particulars on the motor/tranny aspect. Definitely drop Drew a PM. I'd definitely talk with steve as well and ask him what he all he did with that 3rd gen he passed on because of the motor. That's definitely something you want to keep in mind.
Good luck and maybe you'll be in a 3rd gen soon enough
