door panels off?

RE: door panels off?
If your friend is helping you, he probably has the tool. Me, I go the cheap old school route and use a flat scew driver to get access and the needle nose to finish pulling the clips. Have had my panels off at least 4 times and only replaced a few of the clips. No rattles, but would be a good idea to get some new ones depending on how they come out. A few bucks for the clips is worth not having rattles. If the clip shreads replace it.........
As far as speakers, the 3 ways will have more highs. Since you are not getting an amp there will not be much difference. If you are going to change them out, you might want to consider a head unit with some power or an amp. Will make the most improvement..
I have had Eclipse 6X9 SP6900, High dollar, blew them twice. Small wire to woofer breaks down. Great sound with power.
Polk audio 6X9 3way DB690 Reasonable price, Not as good on highs/clearness. Pulled them back out.
Infinity 6X9 3way Good speaker, good highs without the am midrange sound. Still using.
Without power none will perform very well....IMO

those infinity speakers that you said your still usin, are they clear? and as for you saying none will perform without power, is a 220 watt headunit enough power?

RE: door panels off?
220 watts will do fine. That sounds a little extreme for a head unit to have that kind of power. As far as the speakers sound, I like them. There are several good ones out there. It comes down to sound and price. It is all in opinion. We all have them and most will be different.
Best way to tell is to aggravate the guy at the audio store. You adjust the deck the way you want, not the way they set it, and crank up the different speakers. If you do this using the same display it will make the comparison even.

I want to take my panels off too... I bought those Jimmy Jammers to stop the bass-turds from trying to steal my truck "AGAIN".
I will need to take off both panels.
Ryan... where can I get those tools??
Thanks...

its 220 max power. It prolly only puts out 18 rms to each speaker.

yea sorry i forgot to mention... normally aftermarket speakers usually perform and sound better when amped but will still be better then the factor ones anyway..especially when combined with a new headunit...anyway you would still have the option to add an amp later if you went with some high watt-rated speakers..still sound good with just hte HU and could always upgrade later.. theres ALOT of options out there so shop around..

If you want some serious bang for you buck. Start thinking about one of these for behind the seat. Had two in my last regular cab truck. The bass hits you square in the back and the highs will come up between the seat and window.
I had the two individual boxes with an 8" woofer and horn/rectangular tweeters on top. Hooked them up with 10-15 feet of extra cable so while hanging out I could sit them outside the truck and rock. I prefered the smaller individual boxes. Had one on each dide with the amp in the middle. The MTX is what I had. The 8" one was fine for a regular cab truck and still be able to shove the seat back. Here is a link to them.

I'm sure there are plenty available if you search.

RE: door panels off?
ok so now that i actually have my hands on my head unit, i have another question
its a 220 watt blaupunkt RPD 555
i saw online that its 4x55 watts..... since i only have 2 speakers, does that mean i will only use 2x55 watts? (110)? or am i misunderstanding the wattage?
