Radio/Speaker question
I am having a weird issue with my radio. My speakers sound fuzzy at almost any volumn level, mostly in the door speakers. What is unusual about it though is that it only happens when it is warm. On cold weather days, it sounds great, no fuzzyness. It started last summer, but I had forgotten about it since it hasn't done it all winter. Now that the temps are coming back up, I have begun to hear it again. I don't know if my speakers are stock or not, but the radio is an aftermarket Sony. Any ideas?
Do you know if you had an Infinity audio system in your truck originally? The radios generally were cd and cassette, and had settings for treb, mid, and bass. If you did, and they only changed the radio out, its a possibility that the original amp for the system in your truck is on its way out.
weird.. I would tell u to take them out... Hook some different speakers up if you can...If not hook the factory ones up to another radio. I would try and hook up different speakrs if possible cuz the only variable you will be changing is the speaker its self. If you hook the factory up to something else, you change air space..watts..etc. Thats wat I would do.

I plan to try some new speakers to see if that fixes it. Are those 6x9's in the door? Any recommendations on speakers?
The amps for the speakers are actually on the back of the speaker. That is if you have the upgraded sound system. Most of the infinity systems have a set of tweeters built into your pillars on each side of the truck. The way i would solve it is just to put new speakers in with a new radio. Even a sub or somthin under the back seat. But i like my sound. Many dont want to do it, but i think its worth it.

Sorry, I didnt see your last post.. Yea the 6x9's in the front and 5 1/4 in the rear, But you can make 6 1/2's fit. As far as speakers go, there are all kinds of great companies out there. I have infinity(not stock) in my truck and had polk in my old truck. They both sounded great and were cheap. I worked at circuit city at the time, so i had great deals on them. If your putting in new speakers, i recomend a new radio.. It'll make a huge difference. I had a pioneer that sounded great and upgraded to a nav system. If ya have any questions though feel free to ask. Good luck
yea i would assume who ever installed that aftermarket stereo didnt bypass the factory amp (thats if you have one) and the amp is acting up... best way to bypass the factory amp is disconnect the blue "remote" wire from the sony deck.. and then run all new aftermarket speaker wires to the speakers,,, these "dedicated" wires will travel the sound directly to the speakers instead of being routed through the crapy infinity stock amp...
