spark plug gap?
Stock plug gap for my truck is .040. The NGK replacement plugs are .044. What are the advantages/disadvantages of the wider gap? Is that gap too big for a stock application? Why do the NGK plugs have a wider gap in the first place?
I am kind of ignorant on this subject.

It's just the gap that the plugs come with from the factory. I'm betting those plugs aren't JUST for the Ram....so they're just set at a standard gap. You can re-gap them with a feeler gauge.
As far as advantages/disadvantages of gapping, there is PLENTY of info on the net about that subject.

Personally, unless you have ignition mods or other high performance mods, I would leave the gap stock.

This week I am putting on some Taylor Thundervolt wires and swapping out my T Stat to a Hypertech 180. Eventually I am getting a PPIII programmer as well. Would sticking to the stock gap still be best?
