thats the same here.. you cant have anymore then one tread width sticking out past the wheel wells.. mainly because you can pick up rocks and dirt in the tires and throw it up behind you at the oncoming cars

they are strict about that in the northeast... i think in ny if you can see more then a 1/4 of the width of the entire tire outside the body line then its illegal unless you have flares/mudflaps... or you could just goose the throttle and kick up stones in the troopers windsheild... they looovvvveeeee that!
