the bracket is probably holding it up a little. I'd slot out the hole in the bracket a little so you can adjust it..

If you get too much either in there it will actually make it bog down. Propane is better if you can use it. and it wont damage any electical parts like either might.

a quick squirt of aerosol starter fluid isn't going to do any damage. Now sitting there and emptying the can probably isn't a good aidea

Another idea is just get some throttle body cleaner.. if the engine bogs ... yeah then theres a leak...

It also cleans it a little

If you can see an air gap, it's leaking. Hit some wet mud and you'll know for sure.
