Default Eratic shifting/kickdown/or sensor?

So heres my situation,

I recently purchased a 2001 2wd 15oo quad cab with 5.9l and 94k(automatic-OD). I didnt notice it at the time of the test drive, but of coarse shortly after purchase, i noticed soemthing was awry with my new pickup.

It seems to have the tendency to "snap the throttle". I thought it was only in gear, but it did it to me one day in park. The rpms would jump a few hundred just sitting there. It does it alot when driving, so much that it feels like the kickdown linkage in the transmission is working. Kinda surges.

Should i have the transmission looked at, or could it be a sensor starting to fail. The only code that came up, was when the Throttle position sensor wiring worked loose (on the gas pedal under the dash).

Sounds to me likes its thte TPS and its from the TVV locking and unlocking.

I'd check all that wiring again, and if thats fine throw a new sensor on there. Pretty cheap!

I had a problem close to what you are describing, replaced the TPS and that fixed the problem.

heh.. I have the same issue crop up the other day. Never noticed it before because I seldom drive Da Ram on the highway. Came online, and here it was. saw it in the FAQ section too. Thanks, DF! Any idea what it should cost for the sensor?

had a friend just go through the same thing.$1300.00 at the dealer and still had the trouble. Replaced the tps($40.00) and the problem was fixed. Now he's fighting with the deal over all the over work.[:@]
