Default alternator removal help???

can someone please help me?

I tried to pull off my alternator last night to instal a 180 T-stat.

Removed the 2 bolts that bolt it to the bracket, but now there seems to be something holding the bottm on. it will pivot as if i didnt remove the lower bolt. possibly a spacer, but it doesnt seem to budge.

any suggestions?

thanks

I sure hope for his sake that he didn't mix green and orange......that is bad bad news. We had a car come in the shop one day that had that treatment done on it. The owner wasnt happy when he had to buy a new radiator and pay to have the whole motor douched out. We cut the old radiator in half too look in there, that stuff mixes and it almost looks like jello. Wierd stuff but it is "better for the environment".

That stuff is gross! I only use Etholyne Glycol in mine. I buy the straight up stuff and mix it myself, NEVER the 50/50 mixed stuff!

you can use a big screw driver to pry it out of the lower bracket... there is a sleeve in the lower mounting hole near the rear that will need to be pressed inward towards the middle of the alt. otherwise it may be difficult to re-install.

that sleeve makes it a PITA to get the alt back in... you gotta wiggle and jimmy it so the holes line up to slide the long bolt through...

actually if you take 2 channel lock plyers, you can slide the sleeve in a little so it slides right in. the sleeve will then re-seat itself once you tighten it all back up.
