Vacuum problem under load
I am sure this has been talked about but I must be searching for the wrong terms. So I apologize early.
My Specs.
1997 Dodge Ram 1500 2wd
5.2L
extended cab
When I am going up a hill or put a little bit of a load on my truck my vent blower stops and once the engine is not under the load anymore ithe vent blower works again. I am sure it is a vacuum leak somewhere but I have ran mostly all new hose trying to find it. Does anyone have this problem? Has anyone fixed this problem.

RE: Vacuum problem under load
Ya sounds like a vacuum problem. Problem is finding the leak.
There is a check valve right off of the intake manifold and one right off of the firewall. Start with replacing those as they are know to go bad (http://dodgeram.info/tsb/1996/24-01-96a.htm). They are cheap to replace. If that doesn't do it, you will need to find the leak somewhere else in the system, which can be tricky.

I had the exact same problem on my Ram. I found a break in the vacuum line that runs up under the battery tray to the cruise servo, which is why the cruise wouldnt work. There was an elbow then it made a sharp turn onto the servo, it broke there. I hope this helps you out, may not be the same break, but I bet it is the same hose.

Ok it does switch to the defroster under load. Silver_Dodge you have hit the nail on the head. I was pulling my valve cover off this weekend and broke one of those hoses. I could not find where it went to under the dash so put a tight rubber vacuum hose over it...or what I thought was tight. I am going to try to zip tie it tighter to make sure it is not leaking there either. cnewt15 I already replaced that vacuum line a while back ago and check it quite regulary.
So I am safe to say that it is a vacuum leak somewhere correct?

Might need to find where this went. If it was hooked to something before and now isn't, there might be another part of it's destination bleeding off vaccuum from another source.
