the band strut was busted. rest of the trans was fine.

RE: got the tranny fixed
ADJUSTING THE BANDS WILL MAKE YOUR TRANNY SHIFT LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO....BUT IF YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE STEVE AND THEM CAN TELL YOU MORE....IT SHOULDNT COST THAT MUCH BUT I DID IT MYSELF AND THERE IS A THREAD ON HERE THAT WILL TELL YOU HOW TO DO IT....ITS PRETTY EASY,JUST REMEMBER THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FT. POUNDS AND INCH POUNDS!!!!!

RE: got the tranny fixed
i dunno much about auto's either. i think the thing that broke on mine is part of what gets adjusted.
I do know that when you adust the bands it is like tighting up a v belt by sliding the alternator. it makes the band (like the band brake on a PTO) engage properly, because they loosen up as they wear.
I think.....
i also think they are made of metal, and not coated with clutch material.
any thoughts steve?
