Default need help fast re: timing marks on case

Okay, need a fast answer trying to set my basic fuel sync, my case reads 5 befor and 5 after top dead center, manual says to set at top dead center, then go to 17.5 degrees after or line up at the v-8 mark----where is the v-8 mark located, can't use scale to 17.5 degrees as it only goes to 5 degrees after top dead center-----anyone know where the v-8 mark is, I looked everywhere and can't seem to find anything, need to do this today...

Thanks in advance..........

Tim

Why do you need to set your fuel sync? Normally fuel sync is set by the PCM based on input from the cam position sensor and a variety of other sensors.

I had to reset my fuel sync because I pulled the distributor and the engine was turned over a few times when out, reset the engine on the #1 compression stroke to top dead center. I did find the V-8 mark finally after cleaning up the vibration dampener---its on the dampener itself not on the case, anyhow set it to 17.5 degrees after top dead center on the V-8 mark, back probed the distibuter harness conector possitive to the yellow wire, negative to the center black wire then using a dc volt meter you turn the distributor to switch between the zero and 5 volt mark, you set it closest to either side of zero or 5 volts, this sets basic fuel sync, enough to drive it til it can be put onto a computer and set as the facotry service manual states using a diagnostic scan tool............ basically its a hillbilly/redneck setting to get by on, but in no means is it perfect..........
