This is a copy/paste I wrote on another thread:
I had the death flash, and when I installed my Superchips I noticed a big difference. I have been researching programmers lately, and found out that, depending on what you are looking for, Superchips/Hypertech might not be the way to go. Because of the way they mass market thier product, there are certain things they will not do for liability reasons and because they have to make sure that thier stuff will work with any vehicle, whether stock or modded to the nines. I just bought a used PCM from a junk yard and am having it custom programmed. I am planning on posting the results after I get it installed and try it out.
I got it back yesterday afternoon, and just got back from a little test drive[sm=drooldude.gif]. Words cannot explain how I feel right now. With a full tool box (~400lbs) and a ladder rack (~100lbs), I went from a 0-60 of ~9sec. to 7 sec. This was with a wrist watch and I hit the button early. They raised wot shift points to somewhere around 5300 rpms. I no longer have the off throttle hesitation because of the torque management DC puts on there, and if I punch it hard the tires sqawk for about 20 ft. I believe that there timing/fuel tables are way more aggressive than Superchips. I didn't time it, but from 70 to 100 is nothing. The only downside I can see so far is that it idles a little over 800 rpm, and I have lost some of that low throaty idle tone from the exhaust.

If the dealership got near my truck, I would beat them silly. It was a company called B&G. They've been mentioned on alot of forums- mainly Dakota forums I think. As far as specs, I sent them a list of my mods and what I wanted.
yea B&G are one of the few (actually only 2 companys) that actually take the stock pcm and reflash it to whatever you like... makes it really nice when you build the snot out of the motor with custom grind cams etc etc etc..
how much was it total for ya? i wonder if you would still be able to use a hypertech on the pcm after it has been reflahsed by them guys...mainly to change tiresizes...
yea give us the pricin on what they charged you
iv eheard when you get that TQ manegment out of there it really wakes up that motor....gotta give us a MPG check kinda before and after for giggles if you can

It was $430 including overnight shipping back. That's a good question about the tire size thing. I'll have to call and ask them. I'll definately let you know the difference in mpg. Judging by the big yellow sticker on the pcm when I got it back that read "FOR OFFROAD USE ONLY", I will not be getting the same mpg as before. The pcm harness has some slack in it, so I'm going to mount both of the computers so I can swap back and forth. Not only for mpg purposes, but the Dmv here has been talking about instituting random emissions testing as a re-registration requirement.
yea if you get a minuit for bored call them up and ask them if you can still use certain parts of a hypertech on it!!!
dmv is a bunch of ******... good idea to be able to change back and forth for legal reasons!

I called B&G. He said he didn't know, but there was a chance it might overwrite his program. That alone was enough for me. The way the truck is running now, I don't care what the speedo reads. I am going to figure out how to lock my Superchips up so I can't get to it when I'm drunk.
Just for the hell of it, I called Superchips to ask them. Apparently they've gone to hiring temps for their tech service dept. now (must be getting big). The guy asked "does it have like a 87 program on it?". After some small talk, he did say he didn't think you could get to the speedo correct function w/out first going through a programming sequence.
I guess I got lucky. I don't recall telling B&G what tires I was running, but the speedo is dead on what is was with the Superchips corrected pcm.
