Default RAM 1500 4x4 ROTORS?

Newbie to the fourm here I just bought a 2000 Ram 1500 QC 4x4 and of course it has warped rotors. I am looking to upgrade the rotors and pads and have been doing extensive research here to find out what is the best rotor to get and where to get it. There is so many debates about power slot/power stop, cross drilled/slotted or both. Hawk HPS pads or hawk super duty pads. I have read that the super duty pads are known to sweak more so than the HPs pads. On truckpreformance.com they have the power slot rotors in both a standard model for $173 a pair or a cryo treated pair for $229. Is the cryo treating really worth the extrs$$$ and does it really permanently improve the performance and service life of metals, including brake rotors and does it really give it an extra level of protection against warping? I am very confused as to what to choose for my truck and where to buy it. I plan on using my truck as a daily driver but also use it to tow a 1800LB travel trailer on occasion too. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!

Cryogenically frozen rotors, or any metal can greatly improve strength and life...the atoms of the metal are basically arranged evenly in the process, correcting imperfections when cast...I don't have any experience with cryo rotors, but just knowing about the process tells me it will improve the rotor, how much, I can't say.

I work in the aftermarket repair industry and regularly see cross-drilled rotors on many vehicles...they are weaker than slotted as more metal is removed...they dissipate less heat, which leads to cracks around the holes...basically for show only if your truck is not abused, raced, etc., get drilled ones, they look cool...but that's all they're good for...go with slotted rotors.

No personal experience with Hawk pads, so no comment. :P

Thanks you both for the super fast replies! I just ordered the power slot cryos and the Hawk HPS pads from truckpreformance.com and it was $311 shipped. Who knows if I paid $50 more than I should have for the cryo rotors guess i'll have to see if they last or not. It was about the same amount as quoted by a local NAPA and then getting just regular solid (not driller or slotted) rotors and there high end brake pads. I just hope the power slot/hawk HPS setup is better than stock or what NAPA had to offer.

I have read lots of good feedback about the Powerslot/Hawk pad combo on various Ram forums You will probably be happy with them.
I am running Brembo slotted rotors and Akebono pads, and am very happy with that combo as well.
I have also read repeatedly to avoid putting drilled rotors on because these trucks are just so heavy (escpecially if you are towing or hauling loads), and drilled rotors crack easily under such loads.

Post some pics when you get your new rotors and pads installed.

I ordered them through Brakes Plus, and got them in in just a day or two. I recall that they were like $140-150/ea. I can't remeber for sure if that was including install or not either. The Powerslots were a little cheaper, but they were not in stock either and were going to take a long time to get ordered in. You should be very careful about going with drilled rotors on a full size Ram. Slotted rotors offer very good heat dispersion, but are less prown to cracking.

silver dodge, love the valve stem caps. Seen them on other trucks, but can't find anyone who carries them. Care to drop a hint? Thanks
