Hey Justin
I would keep the old 318 and Tranny you have... Build a stroker out of the 318 and buy a new tranny/yoke/u-joints and what not. Also get a new PCM programmed (get a used 1 from a junkyard and reprogram). have both attached to the truck that way you can swap it out when time comes for emissions (if you have emissions in your state)...
Not only that but you will have the stock PCM for the old engine, just incase you wanna go back

True... I'm gonna keep the old engine/tranny/pcm tho, because here in Nashville, we have f-in emissions...
I wont want to go back, but i know that i need the pcm anyways...
I know that once I get that stroker on the rollers at emissions, The guys will just issue me the fail ticket then and there LOL

Well, the stroker motor with the PCM i'm gonna get... I forgot who has it on here but on the pcm theres a little yellow sticker that says "FOR OFFROAD USE ONLY" ... lol, thats prolly why...
But yeah, it's worth a shot the first time, because to re-test its free....

It probably would pass if you could get it to idle with a stock pcm. It all depends on what kind of test they do. They have one where they analyze your exhaust, and one where they plug into your obdII port. A downstream o2 simulator will fool the later. If you have a stroker running off a pcm looking for 14.7:1, and if your cat is in tact you'll be fine with the former.
