trailer brake controller
I usually do all my own stuff, but I went to U-haul and bought theirs along with the plug. Price was the same as buying my own. Same brand everyone else has with U-Haul label on it. Had them install it while I drank a cup of coffee, smoked a couple of cigarettes and was on my way....Too damn easy.
In my experience Tekonsha trailer brake controls are the best. I think the ones that NAPA sells are that brand in a NAPA box. Any time anyone at the shop wants one that is what we install. On another note my truck has a Draw-Tite brand in it but I have never actually used it because I don't have a big enough trailer to warrant trailer brakes.
Here is the one I'm using. http://store.uhaul.com/product_detail.aspx?id=798
The new digital thumb levers are a lot more sensitive than the old spring loaded ones were years ago. Had to experiment with new stuff when it was installed. Serious panic stop. My buddy got a kick out of the trailer tires smoking though. I use mine on 15-25 setting.

Everyone has their opinion as to what is best. So I have read and heard that the Tekonsha Prodigy is one of them. You might want to check it out. Think that is the one I will get as you can alos get a direct plug in wiring harness adaptor for it. http://www.brakecontroller.com/prodigy1.htm
my uncle(02 ram 2500 cummins) first told me about the prodigy. i pull a 30 foot camper (8000+lbs. loaded) and it is the best i have found. since uncle larry, 5 friends and family have come to swear by it also. they are pricey, but shop around. i got mine nib under $100.
