Tranny ?

I've always owned chevy trucks in the past , recently i bought a 1994 Ram 1500 , 5.2 auto. The tranny shifts from gear to gear very quick ( 2000-2500 rpm) even when i get on the throttle from take off or low speed. Is this normal or is there something i can do here?
