Default New Tires???

Hey everyone Iam planning on getting new tires in the next week or so did some research and think i might go with the cooper stt i have had them on my old blazer and loved them. Will 285/70/17 be to heavy for 4.10 gears? i kinda wanna go bigger to get the look i want out of it but i dont wanna lose power because who wants a slow truck. And for some reason the guy that had this truck before me put 265/70/17 and if iam correct they come stock with 275's figured that might also contrubute to the 10mpg because of the wrong gearing for the tire. Please let me know what you guys think and anyother ideas. My main thing it so have power and nice bigger looking tires, i tow quite a bit and also do a lil fourwheeling. Thanks alot guys your great.

285/70's aren't even 33s, so 4.10 would be okay

I run 285/70/17 with 4.10 gears and feel it is a very good combination.

I just put on 33 x 12.5 Mickey Thompson's this weekend and have noticed no change in performance off the line or braking. I had previously had 265/70's on there and they looked too small, but were good for burnouts. You have nothing to worry about with 285's, they will be fine in terms of weight.
