But chances are I won't be going crazy on this truck like I did my diesel. Like I said, I drove one of those 350hp hemis and it was fine... and I'm going to assume you can get that out of a 5.9 without going crazy on it.

I'm going to try REAL hard to leave it at that.

you can try getting a 2000 or 2001 diesel maybe?? that would bring your payment down a good bit.. this 2000 diesel came into my work today.. pushing 1400 ft/lb of torque.. with the nitrous over 2000 ran high 11's that really made me wish i waited a little longer to just go all out and get a diesel

You're talking about adding 100 horse...that's a tall order without a form of forced induction (which would need premium fuel)...and especially without using a programmer that would require you to burn premium fuel anyway. [>:]

So why would it be so hard to make 350hp with a 5.9??? If the 5.7l hemi can make 350 (at the flywheel) and has slightly less displacement...

I've spent a lot of time around small blocks in the dirt racing scene and I know 400-500hp in a small block isn't THAT tough. I would assume some head porting, cams, and some electronics/injector changes would do the trick... do they have stroker kits and pistons available for bore-jobs?

Can a guy use the same parts listed for the old school 360 mopars for these motors?

Or am I totally misquided?

It's true that there are...just depends on how much you want to dig into the motor...and how much you wanna spend. [>:] And how much reliablity you want to lose.

The hemi has the hemisperical head, which in turn has a better intake/exhaust ratio compared to the ordinary magnum heads. thats what makes them have more power =)

If you changed the heads (including a 3 angle valve job), new polished valves, springs, roller rockers (1.7 preferably), it would help hit 350 HP, but while your there might as well change the intake, and the injectors (from 24 pounds to 25-6).... Yeah thats all
