Apologies if its been covered, but I need 4 characters to do a search.

I'm goig from stock to 35s (2000 ram 1500 4x4, 5.2 auto).

I do a lot (A LOT!) of highway driving-- how much is my tranny/speed/mileage going to take a hit?

Thanks yall

Are you planning on lifting it or already have a lift on to fit those 35's?

You shouldn't take much of a hit if your smart and regear to 4.56

I'm trying to avoid the regear cost as long as possible.

How bad is it going to be w/ stock gearing?

(I have a BDS 5" coming in to clear it)

your really gonna want to regear.... i assume your still on stock tire size? when i switched to 33s.... only 33s!! i could tell a significant differance, so i can only imagine 35s. (although i am assuming you have 3.55s..... if you have the 4.10s from the factory then i guess it wouldnt be such a noticible difference)

3.55's with 35s is gonna make a HUGE diffrence in power and mpg. I know its alot but think about how long it will take to pay itself off when your getting say 15mpg instead of 10mpg.

I can tell you first hand. It will hurt badly without a gear change. The power drop is significant.
My speedo is about 10% off. At 70 I'm really around 77 acording to a couple of friends stock rides. So when calculating gas mileage add 10% to the mileage. Better MPG than I thought though.
I cannot use O/D unless perfectly flat ground at 70, or 75, acording to my speedo. I mean perfectly flat. So I run the highway with the O/D off at 26 to 3000 RPM's in order to be able to get out of my own way. Around town it's not that big of a deal, since I'm not trying to race anyone. Not to mention that the stress on our trans. with the tires and 3.55 gear is not good when the trans is trying to push and the O/D will kick up and down. Then you get tired of no power and just leave the O/D off.
Me I got a set of 4.56's and really need to harrass my buddy to get them installed so I can drive normal again.

If you do much driving on 55 to 70 MPH roads it will hurt. If you never leave town and don't want to run anyone you"ll be OK
