think about it this way... 3.55:1 gear ratio is what you have... the final drive ratio (driveshaft for ease of terminology) will have to turn 3.55 times to make the tires spin 1 revolution... now you got 4.10 ... driveshaft spins 4.10 times to get the tires to spin ones... means higher RPM's to help put the HP and TQ to the tires... lower gears would help MPG's only in certain cases where you run small tires... higher gears will hurt your MPG's making the motor higher inthe RPM's but will let it get out of its own way.. i got 4.10's and i was runnin a tiny 265 tire for the winter,,, oh man would i ever spin them tires aLL the time... wiht your 275's it would help to run 4.10's or even 4.56's (kinda overkill though,, leaves you the option to run bigger tires down the road)

and yea dude.. a clogged ANYTHING will hurt ALOT... a regular tune up could be in order... and get that cat checked out

i belive them weirdos in Cali are used to 3cats... i have an 01 and a buddy has a 00 and we both have single cats... non cali vehicles.. im pretty sure youll have 1 cat

hope this helps

4.10's with 265's at 70 were 2600 .. i put the stock 275's back on and recal'd the speedo and im at 2300... when i get the new tires 295's or 305's i should see 2000 or 1900.. but thats borderline for performance loss... but my MPG's might get better on the highway witch i do most of the my driving..

How much does it cost to have it re-geared?

new gears can run from 150-250 bucks for just one differential.. so thats around 300-500 for front and rear.. and if your looking to get a shop to do it expect to pay close to a grand

Almost no need to even check it, it it rattles its bad or going bad. My rattled and I ignored it, until I was driving down the expressway an hour from home and it colapsed/clogged and I had to get it towed home [&:]

I'll call up my dealership and find out if I qualify for a free replacement this week. If I don't, what kind do you guys recommend?

CatCo/Magnaflow High Flow. Cheaper then direct fit aftermarket one and better!

If the dealer replaces it I'm pretty sure they'll only put another direct fit on there and you won't be able to choose a high flow

And about replacing the air filter, how exactly do you get to it, do you need to remove the whole housing before you can get to the filter? I can't find anything about it in the manual.
