Default flowmaster 40 vs. gibson super truck

I have a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 V8 5.2l, single cab that I want to make it kind of loud. So far I've narrowed it down to either the flowmaster 40, the gibson super truck exhaust, or a short glasspack, like about 14-18 inches. I'm 16, so of course I want it loud, but not loud enough where I can't have a conversation with my girlfriend. But I want to turn heads with it, make people know when I'm coming. The gibson said that it can exceed 95 decibels, and I think that is pretty loud. Would that be illegal? Any advice on what I should get? Thanks

I test drove a truck with the Gibson super truck exhaust. If you want loud, then the super truck will give you plenty of loud. Having a conversation will be kind of tough though. The Gibson system and it dumps right below the passenger side rear door of a quad cab and it makes it too loud to talk to the people in the cab. I personally hated it, made my ears ring after about 10 minutes, but people definitely knew I was coming. If you want to hear what a 40 series sounds like, click my link in my signature, it takes you to some clips of my truck.

i have a 1996 5.2 i have the gibson dual swept exhaust with pacesetter headers and a high flow cat and it sounds great all mand bent tubing so i can rev it all the way up and not hear the annoing popping of the exhaust it sounds great so i would go with that one and when you inside you cant really hear it till you at like 2 grand but outside its awsome the gibson i would say is the best bet for it

I got the American Thunder kit with a 40 series muffler.....Its got bark when you go, but has a low enough drone at cruising speeds to allow a normal conversion. So far I've had it for 3 years without any problems, including the noise police.........
