where is your water temp at?
i just replaced the coolant temp sensor this past weekend (thanks Shott). the temp was stuck at about 140. after replacing it, driving around, and testing it, it went to about 180-190 and stayed. nice, but when the truck was cool the next morning, it still read about 185. im not sure, but i thought it moved lower than that when it was cool. maybe i never payed attention til now. so ? is, what are your trucks reading at cold startup?
at cold startup its "dead" untill warm up.. and during normal op temp is between 180- 185 .. (180 degree tstat)
i can take a pick tomorow if you like when im out and about of what the needle should look like when you have a 180 deg thermo in

i would appreciate the pic if you can. so your temp is at the 130 mark when your truck is cold then? mine is always at at least 180. doesnt sound right, does it?
Mine is stuck at the bottom as far as it can go. My truck usually warms up rather quickly, if I leave it set there and idle for about 4 minutes. But I have noticed a total diffrence from the 195 t-stat to this new 180 t-stat. Mine sets between the little white line and the 200 degree mark. That 195 t-stat i had in, the temp guage read over 200.

Sounds like either your sending unit or your gauge is bad.

redone.. ill get that pic tonight.. wicked busy today...
one thought though.
when mine when bad the first time it would read extreme hot.. pegged out... it wouldnt move at all..replaced it with the diesel one (wrong one) and it would dead cold... wouldnt move..make sure you got the right one... compare the old one to the new one and make sure they are identical... the diesile one is a little differnet in the looks of it..enough that you can tell its wrong
also make sure you put the connector back on correctly... i know it has a clip on it but it isnt channeled so its possible to put it on backwords and that could be a problem
i wish i rememberd the part number...
