NO PVC Valve???
Quick question: Today when I was cleaning the engine and changing the oil I noticed a crud load of dry oil on top of my driver side valve cover. I thought no biggie, I'll change the PVC valve. Low and behold when I went down to autozone to get it, I was informed that my truck does not have a PVC valve, just a blow by tube. What???? After checking it out for myself, the tube coming out of or into my valve cover is a fixed piece. Question is this, how do I change it? Is there a check valve somewhere that I'm not seeing? In order to fix the problem do I need to replace the valve cover?
Truck is a:
1997 2500 V10 4X4
124,000
Rebuilt 46Re w/ 800 miles on her..this hurt.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't believe I've ever worked on a V10 before, but there may not be one. If it's just a hard plastic tube, the rubber grommet where it goes into the valve cover is probably dried and brittle allowing oil to ooze out. If you replace it, consider removing the valve cover, I've had those grommets so brittle, they drop chunks into the head, better safe than sorry.

As far as a PCV valve...there is none. You could replace the tube with a small round filter if you wanted...one of those that just sticks in the valve cover.
thanks guys for the response. I too have never worked on a V10. Looks like I get too this weekend.
Yea I thought it was a 47RE too but the guy at the tranny shop told me it wasn't. Go figure! What's the main difference between the 46 and the 47? A little beefer maybe?
Again, thanks

I can't remember the exact differences, but the 47 was only put behind the CTD and the V10. It's got the same gear ratios as the 46, but it has an extra planetary set...I think the input and output shafts are beefier as well.
