Axle Seal?
My drivers seal is leaking, kinda bad too [:@] I have to do that and my axle u-joints though. I am kinda intimidated to me honest. Its hard to do stuff to your DD that you know micht take longer then you expect. Really hard when I barely ever get 2 days in a row off!
socha, i know the feeling. i never ever thought i'd be diving into my front axle and pulling gears out of it. the u joints are pretty easy, and its a damn good thing i did mine. 3 of the 4 bearinc caps were dry (should be full of grease) and rusty. with the new hubs, bearings, and u joints, the whole front end feels so different. truck is alot quieter, and steering feels alot tighter. also, it seems like it doesn't lean as much in corners, but that might just be me.
Every time I have had my axles out mine leaks for a while and then clears up, no it isn't out of fluid either. I think some comes out when you pull the axle and it takes a few weeks till it all drains out of the end of the shaft. From what I have heard they require a special tool to change or you have to make one. Might be a job for a dealer or a shop with some experience with them.
My truck has been in the shop (and is now) 3 times in the last month for bad seals. First it was the pass side, then the driver side, then the pass side again and now the pass side for the third time. The dealer tried to say that the seals were bad from the factory after they started leaking a day after he replaced them. This is the 3rd time the pass side seal has failed in less than 1000 miles, the dealer is out of excuses, anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be? Ball joints seem to be in good shape.
I know these are for Jeep axles, but basically the same idea:
