yes, i know there are. you said yourself 'your still living at home with mom and dad so you can afford to not worry'...... that is precisely why im keeping it!! i dont have to worry about paying bills yet.
i figure i wont be able to have an unreasonable vehicle later in life (when supporting myself) so i may as well have it now, while i can enjoy it.
trust me ive thought this all through, a hundred times (every night tryin to go to sleep) and i know that it seems like a typical stupid teenager mistake, but i will sell it when i NEED to

Maybe its because I came from a crappy home life, but I dont like relying on other people to take care of things for me. I'm not saying your lazy or a mooch, so please dont take it like that. I just want to make sure that you understand with the way gas prices are, you really need to make the effort to help yourself and your family. Maybe I just know what it is like to have $100 in the bank and know you arent able to spend it because gas prices are causing you to have save more money then you'd like to.
For the record, if you could get something that was reliable on gas....and say got something like 25-35mpg for under $1000....you could very well save some serious cash in a couple of months alone. I mean, if your truck gets 12mpg and say the little Toyota Corolla you snag does 33mpg, you'd be spending virtually $9 for every 33 miles compared to like $3 in the Corolla.....now do the math....say you drove 600 miles a month....that's 50 gallons of gas and thats like $150-160 in your truck.... now compared to a Corolla like vehicle getting 33 mpg....that's like $60 a month..... in a 6 month time frame you could easily save $600+ depending on your driving and the cost of gas....
I dont want you to sell your truck, and I am not trying to convince you of that fact......however, as a kid who is entering the b.s. world of bull**** gas prices....its time to be smart about your driving habits or you could lose that truck you love because you have no choice but to sell it....and by then it may not sell for anything close to what you think its worth. Hell, even a moped or a old motorcycle would be a better idea then driving that truck all the time....

thanx for the advice. i am changing my driving habits. im going back to carpooling to/from school (insta-humility!! haha)
and i understand what your sayin about the beater. but i think itd be cheaper to carpool, and then ride with my parents as much as i can. (long term, it may be cheaper. but id have to have a lump sum right now to buy the car)
as for the job, i live in a part of town where im not real far from anything. my last job was less than 3 miles from my house, it was awesome. perfect location.
my parents are really nice, im not worried about them kickin me out of their dependent list anytime soon. Im very grateful for them!!
and again, thanx for the advice. im not necasarilly argueing, but what yoru saying is stuff ive thought about a LOT and i feel like im makin the right choice. and heck if i go another couple months and realize im wrong and your right, then i may have to sell the truck after all. but for now ive decided im hanging onto it till i HAVE to sell it.

Hey man, I hope your doing the right thing to. I know what its like to have a vehicle you love. That's great that you are being an adult about your driving habits and what not. Acknowledging that you have to watch things or change things is the biggest step in making a change possible. I really, really hope it works out for you. Seriously, if you live that close to things....a bicycle or even a small 250cc motorcycle/moped might be a great idea.
I'm also not trying to argue either, I appreciate that you didnt take it that way too. It's cool to have an adult convo and not take it personally.

it wasnt even a conversation. it was a no. thats it. haha.
and thanx for sharing your wisdom

yeah a motocycle would be a good gas saver, but knowing all you folks on here you would not be able to not mod it and eventually get the same gas mileage anyway. i know a guy who bought a 250 and somehow was getting worse mpg than i was in my truck. try and figure that one out...
and you gotta realize the whole safety issue... after my mom had to cut my grandfathers toe nails for four or five months after he got in a bad accident there is no way in hell i'm ever going to get one.... sad cause i want one. just gonna have to go with the sport 4 wheelers. those are gettin pretty bad a$$.

Glad you're still hangin with us! A buddy of mine has been buying p.o.s. little beat up cars for around $500 - fixing a few things and reselling them for more $ due to the high gas prices. Makin a killin. Right now hes driving a Escort to work that looks like shiite but runs good and gets like 35mpg. Thats the deal - find a small car that gets good mileage and runs good but looks like crap - get it for cheap. when you are done with it - sell it........

Okay I have to chime in now, as some of you may know I to have been throwing around the idea of getting rid of the Ram. Well I have been out there looking and have decided a 07 Caliber would look pretty awesome in my drive. That Blue they have is a great color and that drink cooler in the glove box is sweet. Some nice neons under it and a gull wing, these would go good with the light up cup holder! I just can't control myself (squirt squirt). With 35 miles to the gallon it's a no brainer. I might just get the Orange one. So I guess all I have to say now is
F THE GAS PRICES I'M KEEPING MY RAM!!!!!!!!!!! As Denise Leary once said about driving a vehicle that gets crapy gas milage is I'm an a-hole
