looks like a smart place to put the lights if you don't plan on going off road... thats what i would worry about is them getting stuck on something and ripping the bumper off or just bending it around. kinda why i like the on the axle mount. a little protected by the axle that way.
the switches look really sick in the ashtray like that. you can also put them on that thing on the floor under the cup holder that's where i put my switches for the lights and neons...

i probably shouldn't do this again with the lights like that...

wow! sooo cool!
I don't think sawing holes in a bumper is a good idea: cool, of course, but the bumper structure could be less strong and when hit couldn't protect the vehicle (i mean strong hits).

Jcwhitney.com has them 10 bucks cheaper with free shippig.
Here is a tip. BEFORE you install them take clear rtv silicone and neatly seal everything that has a gap. I slapped them on and the next day it rained. The lens were fogged the next day. I again sat in my garage and sealed each light and then i sealed the whole unit. ( this will make sence when you buy it ) The unit is composed of 2 parts - housing and a insert.. What can happen is since its pointing to the rear you are letting water and wind jam between the to parts of the housing. Salt spray and water will get in there with in 30 seconds of driving in the rain. So goo the heck out of it. The rtv pulls off with no mess if you need toget back in there later. Also I tapped into my trailer wiring harness to hook these up. Very easy. I soldered the connection into the harness and took my hot glue gun out and shot a nice gob around the connection to not only seal it but strenthen the connection. Looks real nice and is protected from the elements. They fire when i back up. They fire via a small toggle built in the rear and you dont need the key in the ignition to use them. They can also be toggled off via the rear so when you back up they are off. I must say that i use these all the time.Bright as hell! I use them to light my driveway at night when loading via the manual on switch. The only thing that would make them better is a switch under the dash that would fire them while driving to pi$$ off people that run there highbeams behind me. I also get alot of people asking me about them. Makes your truck stand out alittle.
