Tonneau Cover Actuator
Did anyone installed a linear actuator to raise the Tonneau cover?
do you think one actuator per side is needed?
take a look of this one, thanks!

haven't done a tonneau mod but you could do that. probably have to do some modification and replace the stock shocks on the tonneau with the actuator.
it said 250 lbs capacity, and depending on the cover you might be pushing that limit. to not burn up the motor or stress the tonneau i'd put one on each side. then the tonneau won't twist when being opened.
also you are going to have to decide if you want to be able to open the tonneau by hand or only by the actuators. i don't think you can lift it by hand if you put the actuators in. or at least you'll have to design something that will allow you to do it without stripping the motor apart. it said it had a clutch so it might be able to be pulled and not hurt the motor but that's something you'd have to ask them about or test yourself.

Looks like it would work... as long as you can spare 5 amps and it doesn't take 250 lbs of force to open the cover from wherever you would mount it. I'd say if it can lift a door, hood or seat, then the tonneau cover will be a breeze.
If you're concerned about twisting the cover and didn't want to buy 2, you could probably rig it up so that it lifts from the center of the cover.

yeah you could design it to lift from the center but then it would be lifting off the tailgate.. or at the cab.. either way useless... remember it has to have an attaching point to lift something. also lifting from the center creates the problem of getting stuff in the truck.
