Dodge Ram Projection Headlights...

RE: Dodge Ram Projection Headlights...
those headlights are near to crap.
the light pattern really sucks, I'm modding them to accept a HID conversion kit, just made one.
you got to remove some material with a grinder to enlarge the hole and make room for the xenon bulb.
I whish I hand't bought them... now I have to install.
I will put some pics when done..

light pattern comparison... it sux [:@]
they come with a cheap H1 bulb, I'm replacing with HID, (they also come with a decal saying HID not allowed, I shouldn't go to jail for that).
below the driving lights assemly removed and grinded, and the material removed...

RE: Dodge Ram Projection Headlights...
Nice pictures attila. I like your truck with the blue stripes.
So are you saying even with HID do not buy them? I tossed in some blue light bulbs 80/100w and the light is very bright. Mine sits in the stock lamps and I never thought about upgrading they work so well.

If you're looking for HIDs, don't get confused with a headlight having the projector lenses and also note that real HIDs "warm" up and that they don't just turn on to full power.
If it's just the angel eyes that you want, I can get you a write up (without pics...sorry) on how to DIY.

RE: Dodge Ram Projection Headlights...
thanks...
mhh if you are talking about heat, well HID's should generate less heat than halogen (35 watt instead of 55) and no incandescent element...
those lights also have a metal shield between the lens and the reflectos wich shapes the light pattern (cuts the top size not to get in the eyes). You could shape that shield to modify the pattern.
The stock pattern is much more similar to high beam. Here in Italy and Europe the driving lights must not point directly forward. Those aftermarket lenses has the street legal beam.
well, I'm fitting also a xenon strobe kit just to show at cars meetings I swear I won't waste money on those gadgets anymore, next step is stainless headers, CAI, and roller rockers just waiting for them coming in the bed of the SRT10 of my buddy!
