It's a short way of saying, from the converter back. Or some people refer to it as an after cat system.

Is there a difference between a single exit and dual exhaust sound-wise? What about performance wise?

I have the dual, side system. With the louder, two-chamder muffler( American Thunder ). No complaints, mellow at idle, barks when you hit it. Its even louder when the cat is punched out....

I just got rid of my 40 delta and got a (single chamber) 10 series delta force flowmaster and WOW! If you want your truck to sound like a 60's or 70's muscle car then go with this, although it is not street legal, but i do not know how a cop would be able to tell a street legal muffler from a race muffler. At idle it sounds just like the 40 series, maybe a little louder, but when you get on it its loud as hell, blows the 40 series out of the water, i i think the 10 series has a much better tone. Right now i have the 2.5 in and out and no pipe after the mufffler, and it sounds amazing!!!

I am going thursday to get a dual flowmaster super 40 on my 03 QC Ram (4.7) and will let you know how it sounds. As for the single or dual, the single is a bit louder. The dual just fans the sound out over a wider distance.
