Default Magnetic Oil filter wrap results and pictures

Hi guys

I know we have a bunch of new people in here so I am restarting the filter mag thread. I was so impressed with this I think its worth another go round.

I had always wondered how effective the wraps that go on the oil filter are.

I bought the more expensive one with more magnets. Cost about 70 bucks and if your military tell them that and they take off 30% (at the time i bought it)

I wanted till my next oil change and this is what I saw. I know engines wear but to see it freaked me out.

Here is the start of my pictures and the video http://www.ronbarthelt.com/Ram19.html

I must say I am impressed at what I see, those are some powerful magnets, I love the way it distorted the metal, at least from what I can tell.

I would be more than panicked if I saw the size of those metal shavings on my filter. I think I'd be in serious trouble

what kind of oil do you use? Synthetic or Dino Juice? I wonder if that would make a difference, I also noticed that the filter you used was a fram sureguard, I currently use the K&N Oil Filter & wonder if that stuff gets picked up by the K&N filter element [sm=confused06.gif] , either way, Great job & Info.

I'll chop up the K&N and see if I notice anything in the next couple of weeks, albeit with out a magnet but we'll see what kind of goodies are in there, I'll look for the post and let the forum know.

PS. Love the hack job on the test filter

how much is the the cheaper one with less magnets? Just curious.

$70 is pretty expensive for magnets. Its worth it just because it could prevent motor failure but still, they are just magnets

I'm just thinking about putting some magnets around the filter.. but how can I stuck them on the filter?

maybe $70 is the time you saved trying to attach magnets to the filter :-)

This may be a stupid question but... any chance of clogging the oil filter with one of these magnets?

Since I was a kid my father always aid to put a magnet on the oil pan and to remove it when you drained the oil. Looks like he had some good information. He would use a magnet off a speaker.

Magnetic oil pan plugs have been around a long time.

zeekxxx You might want to renew your domain name soon! (although there probably isn't someone with that name trying to get that domain, but you never know!)
