I went with the non-adjustables. I have to adjust the valves on the boat's diesel twice a year. It's a job that I hate. You can get it just right, but then when you tighten the lock-nut the adjustment screw moves ever so slightly then you have to do it again. I went with heavier springs because I planned to raise my shift points, but I used the stock rods.

Well, did the stiffer springs help the shift points? Thats one of my problems right now. Maybe these rockers and springs will compliment my towing valvebody in the tranny.

They don't help shift points perse. A stiffer spring will keep the valves from floating at higher rpm's. I just went slightly stiffer (rated at 6k rpm's). From reading and asking, I didn't feel like I needed hardened rods w/ shift points set at 5.4k.

I'd like to upgrade to full rollers too!

if I put 1.7 what other items should I upgrade on a 5.9 except for the covers?

thanks

The Harland Sharp non-adjustables are bolt-on. If that is all you are doing no other mods are required. They will fit under the stock covers.

Yup, HS rockers were designed to work with stock springs, rods, and valve covers so no other mods are required. No lash adjustments, no beating baffles, just bolt on and go. That doesn't mean that new springs and rods aren't good mods by the way. They are, but just not required to use HS 1.7's. If your running up around 5500-6000 rpms or more, you would definetly want stronger springs to limit valve float and some hardened pushrods to limit deflection, but a stock magnum is done making power at about 4500 rpm. So unless you have a cam and head work, why push it up to those rpms anyway?

From everything I've heard or read, they quit making power so low stock because they are asthmatic. TB is too small, intake, heads and exhaust are restrictive, etc. Supposedly all this is done to create low end torque, and because of emissions, but when you start modding it'll pull higher.

Agree, my Ram, as of right now with the current mods, rips and screams at around 3600, I wanna bring it down so it will scream around 3000. TB, Heads, and 1.7's should help me out, along with a modded kegger or the M1 swap. I lucked out I would guess, I don't have a CQ, so my weight is lower.

10-4 on the weight thing w/ the QC. Damn I wish I didn't have kids-j/k. I been waiting on my m1 for two weeks. Went through chryslerpartsdirect.com to save a buck or two. They seem to be taking their sweet *** time. I don't really expect it's going to pull the power band down any lower. I need a little extra bump up top. I am also waiting on a turtle I ordered. Hopefully that will keep me from losing too much down low.
