I can't find an email address but I'll look on their parent site later. I understand Ryan that have the K&N and are sticking with your brand. Brand loyalty [sm=coolness.gif]

I really would like to get pics and see how it mounts.

I called them. They said that the head of the "boost team" was in a meeting. They took my name, addy, ph#, and email, and said that they would see what they could send me.

Well they called me back. They basically said that they had nothing. The guy I talked to said that one of the people on "the team" said that they thought that their intake sits up a little higher than the K&N. He also said that the web site would be updated to include more info in the future.

I'm just wondering, does it matter where the filter is underneath the hood with these CAI systems, like towards the front corner (K&N) or going right to the side (stock) in regards to the amount of air it takes in? How does the stock system take in air when its right up against the side? And these systems actually suck in air rather than just directing it into the TB?

The coolest spot would be the most ideal, but, just as the filter can become superheated sitting on top of the motor, can the plenum become superheated sitting right over top of the headers. I think at this point that the S&B or Volant systems combine the best of both worlds. I believe that the engineers at Dodge probably measured different areas around the motor compartment to figure out where the coolest air charge would come from (as did ASH) and determined that it would be from the inner fender well. I also believe that emission guidelines, production cost(from a compatability standpoint), the quest to maintain low end torque (for tow rating), and for traditional reasons, they decided to put the filter on top of the motor with the plenum extending into the inner well. I have learned from experience just because they call it a cold air intake don't make it so. Please keep in mind that on a stock motor with stock manifolds, the K&N FIPK is probably fine. That's the way they test them.

First of all- sorry shott. I have the same Eddelbrock shorties that you've had problems with. I live in the South where they don't often salt the roads. The headers look exactly like they did when I put them on. They do, however, put off alot of heat. Heat to the point that the intake tube on the FIPK has bent slightly, and now rests on the bottom edge of the hole in the intake shield. While re-chraging my a/c, I figured out that this was the cause of a slight knock that I was hearing when the engine was cold. When the tube cooled down it tried to regain it's original shape. It rose up about 1/8" off the heat shield, and would vibrate against it until the headers heated the tube up enough to lay back down on the shield. I am now thinking about a different "cold air intake" along the lines that the engineers did with the original airbox. You know, not swooping down right over top of the exhaust manifold. I saw one where the filter is right where the original plenum went into the fender well. Does anyone remember what that setup was called?

The framboost Flash presentation is admittedly smoothly done advertising.
Very slick.

But notice that the main thing that they emphasize is 'More Noise'

Also notice that they present a 'Joe Average' guy saying that he thinks his 'butt dyno' pushes him back in the seat more.

There are probably more than 500 retired auto engineers who are experts on designing air intakes, including legendary ones like Tom Hoover - one of the 'Fathers of the Mopar Hemi' - who could have been hired to test out that aftermarket air intake.

Why didn't Fram hire him or someone similar to say that this air intake does something besides make more noise?

Perhaps because those tough minded old knuckle busters would say something truthful?

These guys are not feeble minded, as Jay Leno found out in this interview:
