New Cold Air Intake (feedback?)
I have seen advertisements in my car mags for Fram Boost cold air intakes and wondered if anyone has tried it yet and how it works.

Let us know if you try it. I'd be curious to see the filter. I know a lot of Diesel CAI's use an oil-less filter. I've tried to find one that would fit my K&N FIPK, but have been unsuccessful so far. Maybe this one will.
Wow, looks really nice.
I'm getting a CAI soon and now I'm really really going to consider that one. Its $250 just like the FIPK. I'll have to do some more reading but I'm really gonna consider that one!! the Dyno page on their site is down so I'll have to check back and hopefully it willbe up!

If i had it to do again, i wouldnt go with the FIPK. It seemed to me to be very difficult to follow the directions for the install, and i wasnt impressed witht he matterials and the way the thing was engineered. Thats just my two cents.....
Yeah the FIPK is made out of that plastic stuff, I put one on my friends F-150 and it seemed okay quality wise. I do like of the Fram one though, mandrel bent alluminum.
I would not recommend using any kind of metal tubing for a CAI. Metal just heats up way to much, and retains that heat longer, not what you want with a CAI. The plastic tubes like K&N are better for limiting heat obsorbtion and retention.
That's what I was thinking. I've looked all over trying to find pics of an install on a second gen, and haven't found anything. If it installs like the K&N, i.e. swooping down right over the headers/exhaust manifold, it's going to heat up way to much. When you search that site for "your vehicle" it's the same cai tube no matter what vehicle you pick. There's just no way of telling.
