The V10 isn't much worse on mileage than the V8s. I get 14mpg highway right now...and could easily get more with a few mods and some different tires (trying to burn my rears down for that purpose). And I still have the 310+ horses and 450+ ft-lbs of torque that the V8s don't have [8D]
I have talked to a few people that have gone from the V-10 to the V-8 and are horrified how much worse the 8 cylinder gets for milage. Those who have a V-10 usually (I state that lightly) stay outta the pedel. I get better milage with my extended cab long box 3/4 ton v-10 with the 4.10 gears then my old 91 chev 3/4 ton reg cab long box wth a 350 and 4.10s. And can haul a house on top of it. Sure everyone thinks the milage is bad, but look how much weight that that motor is moving. Its actually pretty good.
