Rim width???
Darn. Looks like its new wheel time too. Decided to go with 285/75R16. Looks like they won't fit my rims. Don't want to lift the truck if I don't have to. Can anyone help an old guy out with a manufacturer of wheels that I can checkout online. Looking for aluminum. Nothing fancy cause I don't like cleaning wheels. Lot of beach use. Checked out American Racing, too much detail. Could go to a 17" rim also. Thanks

the alloy diesel wheels (2000-2002) are 8 " wide

The steel wheels are 6 1/2 "

He has rims like my truck has on it....the steel/chrome ones.
or the plain steel ones. Those were the only 2 wheels available in 97.
I have a steel/chrome wheel. Can't tell what width. Looks like they are 6.5" like Burning said but they look like the picture of Spike's alloy diesel wheel. Without taking them off, is the a way to tell? I can't see any stamped numbers on the rim edge that corresponds to a size. I believe Burning is right but hope for Spike's response. These are not alloy if that means aluminum, they are definitely steel/chrome. Warning to you young four-wheelers. This **** gets in your blood and stays there. Work hard while you are young and set yourself up for four wheel retirement. Sand blasting and mudslinging is still a blast but expensive on social security. If you think its hard to convince mom or the wife and kiddies new rims are an absolute necessity, try explaining to the old lady her liver pills could wait a couple of months cause we need a new set of hot wheels to beach buggy in style down to Democrat Point for an early morning bass. Sometimes they just don't understand.

Spike the 8" alloy wheels for the 2000-2002 diesel, what was the backspace? Do you know if they will fit on my 2500? Thanks.

1/8" off of each rear drum and various grinding on front steering/braking components if I remember correctly.
Im running the alloy wheels currently on my 2500. I had to remove 1/4" total off my drums. There is that lip that the rims will catch and will not go onto the hubs properly. If you do find a set, MAKE SURE THEY FIT after grinding and you can get your wheel on and off easily.
As for the fronts, there was no modifications that needed to be made.

In the pic you can see jsut how tight these wheels fit over the drum.
