Can anyone recommend some good performance shocks. I am more interested in a smooth stable ride than stiff offroad ones.

 

I just put on Momroe Sensa-tracs last week. Night and day difference than the originals. $200 for all 4 installed at Sears. They did a great job.

 

Monroe makes some smooth riding shocks & struts.

The Gabriel Gas Ryders that I have on my Ram right now also ride quite smooth...especially for being installed on a 3/4 ton. They were on the truck when I bought it. I know they're a rather in-expensive shock.

I plan on going to Rancho 9000 adjustables in the future.

 

yah, monroes are nice shocks for the money, and I'm pretty sure they have a lifetime warranty

 

any of the adjustable type shocks (rancho rs9000, procomp has a few, etc) are nice because you can dial the shock in to what you plan on doing with it, just a few clicks change up the dampening, and you can "custom dampen" the shock for your desired ride... but they are a bit more expensive (around 60-80 a piece I think)

 

buy Bilsteins i have tried all the other name brand shocks rancho 5000, 9000, RSX's the edelbrock variable shocks like the RSX's , ive tried basically every shock and the Bilsteins run circles around all those others. i found some sorta of nagging fault in all those other shocks. the Bilsteins had the best ride the best handling and the best overall rebounding and compression characteristics. Trust ME Here, ive spent 1000's finding the right shock!!!

 

when yall talk about the adjustable ones, how do you adjust them? ive seen adjustable shocks in sport compact cars before, but i havent seen them first hand in a truck yet. are they adjusted the same?

 

I know the Rancho's have a **** that you dial in.

 

the adj shocks are done on each shock itself theres a **** u turn or u can get an air powered in cab front/rear adjustment setup. i think though thats to much BS, just get the bilsteins extended lenghth if ur trucks lifted and be done there sweet shocks works flawlessly and are pretty much self adjusting in much the same way as the rancho's and stuff. unless u drive on very smooth roads and then off off road alot going back and forth the adjustable shaocks i just dont see the need or mess and constant resetting. i bet in my case the low setting would be to soft the high to hard and the middle just a comprimise. the adj feature just isnt praticle to me to much work, plus i may be wrong but it only changes the rate in one direction meaning its compression stroke (the shock compressing from a bump) or its rebound (the shocks expansion back to its normal riding height as such) do so more research first get as much feedback as u can cause thats a sorta pricey purchase and if its not ur style u r going notice it anytime u drive.

 

the adjustable ones are ok, I've had the rs9000's and they wound up on the softest setting...

get the edelbrock IAS performers or the Bilstiens...
