Default Misfire on #5

Well sorry to say the problem still exists! I ran the Sea Foam through per the directions and the light went away. Ran fine for about a week and then the light came back. The hesitation seems a little better, but the rough idle and gas mileage are killing me. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

Sgt. Gaylor

have you checked the heads? I bet you have a cracked exhaust seat in #5... also, did you yank the injectors to see if #5 had some crap on the inlet? You could try swapping injectors into different cylinders and see if the miss moves with the injectors... just mark them first.

If you have already done a full tune up, i would check the heads, could be a burnt valve.

There is no need to swap the injectors. The easy way to see if an injector is plugged is to start the truck and let it idle. Then, unplug the connector at the suspected injector. If the idle doesn't change, then that injector is either plugged, not receiving a pulse, or is inoperable. It is very rare for an injector to no longer function.

I'm not wise. I'm passing along knowledge I have acquired. Check out my thread where I broke open my engine. I had three out of five injectors clogged. https://dodgeforum.com/m_393897/tm.htm

also you can feel the tick if it's getting a pulse. my #8 was clogged, i hear that they are prone to get gunk built up towards the back of the rail, then when you throw some cleaner in it it breaks loose and cloggs the injectors. when we changed my injector we pulled the rail off and cleaned it real good.
