Default Help me diagnose my problem (possibly plenum)

Well, I looked into my TB the other day, but didn't really notice any oil build up, but then again I didn't really look all that well.

The Symptoms:
Bad gas mileage ~10MPG Highway
2 quarts of oil in ~500 miles
1/2 quart in 150 miles
Looks like oil on tailpipe

I'm thinking (and hoping) its just the plenum.
Can you guys tell me what you think?

And if it is the plenum I need a new gasket and what else?

Truck has 53500 miles.

sounds like a plenium man. You can just get the intake gasket set, which will include the plenum gasket, and a new "stamped steel" plenium, but this is the same junky one that your truck blew in 50K miles. For an upgrade, look at www.hughesengines.com they have a 1/4" thick aluminum plate, as well as all the gaskets and intake torque-to-yield (read-one time use) bolts for your truck. I'm super happy with mine.

cool man. You won't be dissapointed. I have one on my 1999 ram 5.9, and I noticed a 3 MPG increase, and totally stopped my oil consumption.

yea that pretty much sounds like what mines doin on alomost every start-up theres some blue smoke comin from the exhaust and i was lookin at it today and it looks like there a thin layer of oil in plenum or in that area and my question is well im 16 years old and i was wonderin how hard this would be to change and i have a friend thats pretty good with trucks or if it would be easier just to take it in and git it fixed and by the way its a 1999 ram 2500 v8 thanks.

it's not too bad. You need basic hand tools, and a torque wrench, a putty knife or something to scrape the gaskets off, and a bunch of rags to put in the lifter valley when gasket scraping happens.
If it's your first time taking an intake off of anything, you may want to put a whole day aside, and take a bunch of pics as stuff comes off, that way you can check how it goes back together.

I used a sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil. Worked fantastic.

Yeah, I used a notebook and masking tape. Labelled every connector and documented every single step. When it came time to put it back together, there was ZERO guesswork, and most importantly, no "What the hell does this go to?" or the infamous "What do you mean there's more parts?? I just put it together..."
