hey everyone, i got a question. i am 17 years old. I am probally getting a 95 dodge ram 2500 on 35 inch meats, with the v10 8.0 liter engine. I was wondering how much miles to the gallon i could expect with this truck. Thanks guys

 

Do you know what the gear ratio is for the truck? Also is it regular cab or extended cab?

Assuming it's a regular cab.... (these are all for an UNLOADED truck)

With 35s and 4.10s, I'm guessing around 11mpg (maybe 12) Highway...7-8mpg city.

With 35s and 3.55s, I'm guessing 9-10mpg Highway and 6-7 city.

Basically, not so good with that large of a tire on it [:'(] I have 4.10s and 285/75/R16s (around a 33 inch tire) and I get 14mpg highway and around 10 city driving conservative (IE, my foot out of the gas). I'd be getting slightly less if I wasn't running the Mopar PCM and premium (93) fuel.

I hope you have an alternative mode of transportation...or a really good job. I say that because at $2.85 a gallon, it will run you around $90 each fill-up (assuming each fill-up is around 32 gallons of the 36 gallon tank). And those fill-ups tend to happen quite often [8D]

if you can afford it, get it. i got the 5.2L V8 and i only get about 10 mpg average. have any plans on what you want to do with it? offroading, work truck, etc?

just so you know, thats a good truck to turn into a beast offroad. the 2500 has the beefy axles and steering (things you usually break offroad). you can lift it and drop some big tires in it without much of a problem, and the V10 with turn em easy too.

 

c'mon! you know you want it!!! if I could get a V10 and put it in my ram I would.

I had a 73 Chevy stepside with a 454 in it when i was your age.

thanks everyone. k one more question and i am done. This truck has 149000 miles, towing package, nice sound system, bed liner, rear sliding windows, 5 inch lift, brand new procomp tires. Is it worth $5999? I think it is very much worth it. Thanks again and it is going to be a DD and offroad kind on the weekends. If i get it i plan on putting some more susp. lift on it and running probally 42" super swampers. Thanks everyone for the help!

 

its worth 6k, then you clean it up, replace a few things and turn around and sell it again for 10k easy.


149k miles though, she's been through her prime years.
since you're 17, i sure hope you dont go and wreck it like most teenagers do with their trucks.

 

do it for $6k. mine has 163,000 miles on it and runs fine.


like sinister said, don't f&^k it up and run it into a tree or somethin. remember: its a 5000+ pound truck, and it takes time to stop and its gonna want to resist all opposing forces when you are accelerating (like slowing down and turning) especailly if its lifted with big tires.
